Description
Originating from Java during the 1920s to 1930s Dutch colonial period, this compact Vintage Cabinet With Coloured Glass represents a compelling chapter in regional design history, where traditional hand-joinery adapted to the clean, symmetrical geometry of early Art Deco. Handcrafted by master artisans of the era, the piece balances an upright, purposeful silhouette with soft, rhythmic curves—anchored up top by an arched gallery rail that finds its exact structural mirror in the curved apron and stepped bracket feet grounding the base.
The character of the Vintage Cabinet With Coloured Glass is defined by its material provenance: old-growth solid teak harvested from mature, dense forests of the era. The top surface is fashioned from a single, continuous plank of solid wood, revealing expansive, swirling grain lines and a deep, tactile patina that only rare large trees can yield. Meticulously revived by our in-house restoration team using traditional techniques, the finish highlights the wood’s natural golden-brown warmth and honest imperfections without sanding away the historical soul of the piece.
Set into the door panel is a striking triptych of embossed patterned glass in clear, cobalt blue, and amber, fracturing natural light to illuminate the interior. Fitted with a brass drop pull and opening to a practical two-tier shelf layout, the Vintage Cabinet With Coloured Glass is scaled intentionally for modern, compact interiors—serving naturally as an intimate drinks station, a dedicated vinyl console, or a quiet standalone feature in a living room or entryway.
