Description
Reflecting the aerodynamic leanings of late 1930s to 1940s Streamline Moderne, this compact cabinet softens the rigid angles of early Art Deco through clean, continuous radiused corners. Rather than joined square edges, the outer solid wood shell curves smoothly over the upper shoulders, housing an open niche directly above an enclosed storage compartment. The door follows this curved rhythm with a bowed return edge on its left flank, nesting neatly within the recessed, stepped plinth base below.
The value of this Streamline Moderne Art Deco Cabinet lies in its solid wood selection, built exclusively from old-growth teak sourced from large, mature trees. The top surface, sides, and front door panel are each fashioned from broad, single slabs of solid wood with beautiful grains and knots. Restored by our in-house team using traditional techniques, the natural golden-honey grain is accented while leaving decades of authentic character and patina intact.
A period detail sits at the door: an original patinated brass pull featuring an Art Deco ziggurat pattern framing concentric rings and a drop tongue. Proportionally balanced and self-contained, the Streamline Moderne Art Deco Cabinet functions with equal ease as a bedside table or as a compact, sculptural side cabinet in a smaller living space.
