Description
Carved from solid old-growth teak, the standout feature of this Midcentury Modern Assymetrical Shelf lies in the pair of lower cabinet doors, which showcase deeply carved vertical scalloped fluting. Unlike flat veneers or applied wooden trim, each door face is shaped directly out of a substantial solid wood plank into rounded, concave channels that catch light and cast bold linear shadows across the grain.
Above the base, the open-framework shelving follows an asymmetrical balance. Slender turned spindles secure a wide horizontal box compartment alongside cantilevered display tiers, each completed with an upturned sculpted lip. The broad shelf surfaces feature dense, seasoned teak grain, providing dedicated zones for ceramics, glassware, and art publications.
Raised on round tapered legs, this airy framework lets ambient light filter freely through the entire structure, functioning naturally against a living room wall or positioned outward as an open-plan room divider.
