This rare Pair of Curved Bedside Tables is a genuine original from the circa 1920s–1930s, defined by the sophisticated curves and luxurious materials characteristic of the Art Deco era. The frames are handcrafted from solid aged teak in Java, establishing a robust foundation and rich patina.
The tables’ most distinguishing feature is the front façade: each swing door is meticulously veneered in highly figured burl wood. The use of burl veneer was typically reserved for ultra-luxury Art Deco pieces, underscoring the custom craftsmanship and high status of this pair.
The wood's dramatic, swirling grain provides a stunning organic contrast to the geometric quadrant silhouette of the teak frame. The design is finished with elegant hand-carved rounded handles, reinforcing the soft, luxurious geometry.
Behind each swing door, the cabinet reveals internal shelving for storage, along with a clever feature: a dedicated storage compartment integrated into the back of the door. This thoughtful detail makes the pair perfectly suited for organizing small bedside items, such as jewellery, glasses, or private accessories, maintaining both function and style in the sleeping area.
