Description
Handcrafted in Java during the late colonial era, this Colonial Display Cabinet with Blue Glasst is built from old-growth solid teak. The form is quietly luxurious—relying on clean lines and balanced proportions rather than elaborate ornamentation. A stepped cornice crowns the top, adding crisp architectural moulding that gives the tall, narrow silhouette an authoritative presence well-suited to modern interiors.
The single cabinet door features flat, squared rails framing a broad clear glass panel, flanked on either side by slender vertical margins of textured cobalt glass. The deep blue tone provides a beautiful, saturated counterpoint to the warm honey brown of the aged teak. Below, a flat solid timber panel balances the facade, fitted with an original brass key escutcheon and a round brass pull.
Inside, three fixed solid teak shelves provide deep vertical clearance for glassware, ceramics, or spirits. An integrated drawer sits flush within the base plinth for concealed storage, supported by shaped bracket feet that keep the case cleanly elevated.
