Art Nouveau Revival Stained Glass Divider

Hand-built around a pair of preserved late 20th-century Indonesian stained glass panels, this two-leaf folding screen translates the organic, whip-lash lines of the Art Nouveau revival into a functional spatial divider. Rescued intact, the vintage decorative glazing is custom-mounted in a clean, newly built frame handcrafted from solid aged Indonesian teak.

The panoramic scene depicts a tranquil wetland landscape across both panels. Slender bulrushes and cattails with amber and deep red heads rise from the water's edge, their curving metal joints creating fluid movement across the lower half. Horizontal bands of amber sandbanks and cobalt water ground the base, while generous expanses of translucent glass above allow ambient light to pass freely into the interior.

The primary character of the piece comes from its pressed patterned glass. Classic four-petal Begonia flora relief panes in cobalt, ochre, and moss green are interspersed with stippled and clear textured glass. When backlit by daylight or evening interior lighting, these tactile relief surfaces scatter direct rays into a soft, jewel-toned projection without harsh glare.

Framed by straight-grained teak stiles and stabilized by integrated notched bracket feet, the screen articulates on flush brass hinges to zone an open floor plan, shield an entryway, or filter daylight beside a window.
