Description
Once built to fill 1930s drawing rooms with warm acoustics and early broadcasts, this original vintage speaker cabinet has found a new life as a characterful home piece. The conversion respects its musical heritage, translating an object once dedicated to sound into a tactile, visual statement crafted from solid aged teak.
The adaptation preserves the romantic details of the radio era while making room for everyday use. Where fabric mesh once veiled the speaker cone, a clear glass panel has been fitted beneath original vertical brass grillwork—opening up the lower compartment to showcase treasured ceramics, books, or a quiet collection of glassware. Above it, the horizontal slatted brass grille that once helped project sound now serves as an integrated pull for a smooth top drawer.
Framed by raised shoulder wings that step down to a recessed top gallery, the cabinet provides an intimate surface for a small reading lamp or an evening drink. Anchored on a grounded plinth with a softened arch cutout, it brings a sense of nostalgia, music history, and aged timber warmth to a quiet corner.
