This original vintage Art Deco Sideboard presents a sculptural, dynamic composition that feels remarkably light and airy despite its solid aged teak construction. Handcrafted during the 1930s to 1940s, the piece moves away from conventional boxy credenzas in favour of an asymmetric, split-level profile that plays with open space, rounded edges, and balanced geometric forms.
The centerpiece of this design is the floating top gallery, elevated above the main body on a turned timber ball spacer. This single spherical riser introduces a breath of negative space across the upper tier, transforming what could have been a dense wooden surface into a light, cantilevered shelf that terminates in an upturned lip. It creates an open, secondary staging deck for ceramics, glassware, or books while keeping the overall volume feeling relaxed and uncluttered.
Below, the lower structure is organized into a clean mix of open and closed storage. A tall cupboard on the right offers dedicated height for spirits bottles or decanters, while the left side features an open mid-tier display niche above a two-door cabinet. Finished with patinated brass drop-ring pulls and grounded on rounded, stepped feet, the sideboard functions effortlessly as an elegant dining server, dry bar, or living room anchor.
