Description
The geometry of this piece immediately breaks away from conventional rectangular cabinetry. Rather than a uniform block, the sideboard is composed as a landscape of stepped plateaus and deep alcoves—a regional 1930s translation of the setback profiles popular across European Art Deco design, executed entirely in solid aged teak by Southeast Asian craftsmen.
A prominent rounded corner stile anchors the right section, stepping the upper drawer and tall cupboard forward into the room while softening the transition between the two volumes. To the left, the profile drops into a series of open staging tiers—including a raised canopy box and a distinct semi-circular display ledge—before settling into a wide, recessed lower cabinet.
Rather than breaking the surface with contrasting brass or iron, every handle is carved directly from the same aged timber, allowing the natural grain and aged patina to run uninterrupted across the facade. Grounded on a solid plinth base, the piece balances generous concealed storage with an expressive stage for lighting, ceramics, or barware.
