Description
The sweeping elliptical arm profile of this Art Deco Loop Armchair is a direct nod to 1930s Streamline Moderne—specifically the era’s obsession with aerodynamic forms. Rather than bending lightweight timber with industrial steam, regional Southeast Asian woodworkers sculpted this ambitious, looping geometry by hand entirely from solid, dense aged teak.
The elevated armrest sweeps downward past the backrest, and circles back beneath the seat to cradle the entire reclining structure. Solid teak side cheeks anchor the deep, reclined seat, while the teak backrest terminates in a subtle, outward-scrolled crest rail.
Reupholstered in tailored cream fabric, the low-slung seating angle rests on small ebonised rear bracket feet that counter the dynamic forward momentum of the loop. It is a rare expression of speedline-era industrial symbolism, masterfully translated by hand into premum aged Teak.
