Description
Built in 1920s-1930s Java for grand colonial homes and merchant townhouses, this three-panel folding screen was originally used to divide cavernous living areas without blocking breezes through the house.
Each panel is shaped from solid old-growth teak, framed with gently curved tops and vertical planking that highlights the wood's deep amber grain. Across the top sits a row of cobalt blue textured glass panels in a traditional floral Morisco pattern. Catching natural daylight or indoor lamplight, the patterned glass casts vivid blue tones across the room while keeping private spaces shielded.
Hand-shaped sled feet keep the base solid and upright when fanned across the floor. Sized to partition an open-plan room, create a dressing corner, or stand against a wall as a warm timber backdrop, it pairs clean 1930s Art Deco lines with the heft of solid Javanese teak.
