Description
The defining posture of this Art Deco Curved Desk comes from the deliberate inward sweep; the solid aged teak worktop curves into a gentle crescent—an ergonomic and aerodynamic hallmark of 1930s European Art Deco crafted here through prized Southeast Asian teak. The continuous stepped moulding along the tabletop rim emphasizes this sweeping arc while establishing a refined shadow line above the pedestals.
The twin pedestal volumes angle slightly inward to follow the contour of the desk, creating an intuitive workspace. Beyond the clean, unbroken timber facades, the pedestals open to reveal thoughtful utility: the left compartment houses adjustable shelving, while the right features a bank of solid teak filing drawers with elegant scoop-front profiles for easy retrieval. Original brass pulls punctuate each door.
At the base, the desk features a grounded, structural bridge - each pedestal rests on a turned cylindrical column set into a heavy, sled-style plinth runner, tied together by a central floor stretcher. This substantial foundation anchors the rich, dark-toned timber volume, making it an authoritative centerpiece for a home library or study.
