An inverted trapezoid silhouette gives this original vintage cabinet an unmistakable sculptural presence, tapering inward from its broad, stepped top down toward the splayed base. Handcrafted from solid aged teak, the piece captures a dynamic 1950s transitional moment—interpreting the angular geometry of Cubism and late Art Deco through Midcentury functionality and masterful Asian woodworking.
The cabinet’s visual rhythm is anchored by vertical fluted reeding carved along the angled corner stiles and carried down through the canted legs. This linear carving contrasts against the smooth, expansive teak top, which extends outward with stepped edge moulding to define the upper profile.
Functionally, the asymmetric layout divides open display and concealed storage:
The right side features a full-height glazed door opening to two deep shelves for curated glassware or bottles. To the left, an open alcove sits above a double-door cupboard detailed with matching fluted paneling. Finished with small round brass knobs, the unit balances substantial solid timber construction with an expressive, graphic silhouette suited as a dry bar or statement sideboard.
