The United Strangers Eternity Occasional Chair draws on the warm industrialism and expressive joinery of 1970s Brazilian and Scandinavian modernism—a style characterized by exposing structural mechanics rather than concealing them beneath layers of upholstery. The chair pairs raw, purposeful materials into an open, sling-seat architecture that balances visual lightness with relaxed, deep-seated lounging.
Its structural rhythm centers on slender, upright ash wood uprights that ground the frame. These softly radiused wood accents act as vertical couplers, capturing two separate runs of tubular polished stainless steel: low sled runners along the floor and an angled perimeter loop that pitches the seat comfortably back.
A heavy canvas sling suspends across the metal frame with wide, visible loops and reinforced cross-strapping along the rear, creating a flexible hammock base for the cushions. Resting inside are two plush cushions tailored in Legacy Brown top-grain aniline leather. The leather features an oily, pull-up surface that yields natural tonal highs and lows with every crease, providing a supple, warm counterpoint to the mirror-polished steel.
