Description
This original Midcentury Modern Sofa is defined by the fluid, organic geometry of its sculpted armrests. These tapered, sweeping lines are a hallmark of the 1960s Danish modern movement, paying homage to masters like Hans Wegner and Arne Vodder, where ergonomic comfort was resolved through a lean, structural elegance.
With the slim profile of the armrests tapering toward the front and allowing them to curve into the vertical supports, the design achieves a sense of continuous motion, providing a tactile counterpoint to the disciplined volumes of the upholstered cushions.
Hand-built from solid aged teak, the frame possesses a material depth and matured grain that mass-produced reproductions fail to replicate. The open-frame construction and slender, tapered legs ensure a sense of visual transparency, allowing the sofa to maintain a light physical presence even in smaller contemporary spaces.
