Description
The architecture of this 1950s jewellers cabinet is defined by its strict utilitarian geometry and specialized functionalist form. Originally designed for the high-precision environment of a watchmaker or jeweller’s workshop, the piece is organized into two distinct volumes. The upper section features a slanted glass display case that provides a clear, light-filled frame for a curated collection, while the lower structure is anchored by a rhythmic stack of shallow drawers designed for the systematic storage of components.
A defining industrial feature is the side-mounted locking mechanism. A single long key—or locking pin—is inserted through the side of the carcass to secure the entire stack of drawers simultaneously, a detail that emphasizes the unit’s professional provenance. This is complemented by a pull-out extension slide that provides additional temporary workspace, further highlighting the piece’s origins as a dedicated tool of the trade.
Hand-built from solid timber with a deep, matured finish, the cabinet maintains a slim, architectural presence supported by a clean-lined frame.
