Description

Defined by strong vertical lines and distinctive pre-war detailing, this 1930s Javanese display cabinet translates Art Deco symmetry into dense, aged teak. Its defining feature is the continuous hand-carved dentil moulding running along both the top cornice and lower waist rail. Each tooth-like block was individually chiselled by hand directly into the solid timber, lending a crisp, tactile cadence that frames the glazed case and highlights the human hand behind the work.

The tall single door holds two generous glass panes within flat-profile teak rails, opening via a petite round brass pull to reveal a balanced, four-tier interior. A central vertical divider splits the case into dual columns, providing uniform compartments suited for framing matched pairs of glassware, curated ceramic vessels, or a book collection against the dark timber.

A flush utility drawer below provides concealed storage for smaller table essentials, while a shaped plinth base with bracket cutout feet grounds the upright volume. With its compact footprint and striking carved relief, it stands as a quiet statement piece suited to an entryway, dining alcove, or living room corner.
