A designer furniture collection perfect for fun, modern homes
Bringing together a confluence of inspirations, PLAYplay is distilled from the personality of Journey East, and skilfully brought to life by internationally-accaimed design duo Lanzavecchia + Wai.
Since its launch, PLAYplay has appeared in various international design media such as Wallpaper*, Dezeen, Elle Decor, Design Milk and many more.
PLAYplay is a daring collection crafted for compact smart living spaces, fun-loving + playful people, and outspoken and expressive characters who are unafraid of colour and want to be surrounded by authentic possessions.
The spirit of play forms the driving narrative behind the collection, each piece consciously representing the young-minded positivity of a life filled with fun.
This forward-looking energy is seamlessly juxtaposed with a touch of retro design influence: a homage to the 20-year heritage of Journey East as curator and restorer of rare vintage furniture.
PLAYplay is proudly designed in Singapore + Italy, and proudly crafted in South East Asia: South East Asia boasts an overwhelming plethora of rich colours and flavours found nowhere else in the world – collected, sorted and selected to give life to each piece in the collection.
Indonesian Mahogany, an impressive wood of the region, was also chosen as a key material that binds us to our culture and collective memory. Part two of the PLAYplay collection was launched in 2017, with more pieces in an Oak finish.
PLAYplay has been celebrated with many international and local design publications, including features in Wallpaper*, Dwell, Dezeen, Abitare, Elle Decor and many more.
Lanzavecchia + Wai is an Industrial Design and Design Strategy office helmed by Francesca Lanzavecchia (Italy) and Hunn Wai (Singapore).
Having taken the design world by storm in recent years, the highly sought-after duo has also garnered attention and accolades across major design platforms such as the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City, IMM in Cologne, Tokyo Design Week, and the Design Museum Holon in Israel.
They are represented by galleries in NYC, LA and Rome, and have been edited by luxury brands like Nodus Carpets and Antolini Marble, as well as high-end mass brands like BOSA, Tod's and Cappellini.
