Upcycled surprises from Swiss designer Jonas Merian
Each lamp is built with a touch-sensitive switch function, and you can adjust between 3 brightness settings with just a flick of the finger.
The Chinese biscuit tins Jonas' Design uses are sourced within Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou.
Crackers, biscuits and sometimes medicine used to be sold in these tins. The tins Jonas is using for his work are all original tins produced in the time around 1970 to 1980.
They are adorned with beautiful pictures of landscapes, flowers, people and animals.
After the cookies have been eaten, the boxes have been reused for many years to store rice, tea or other things inside; that’s how these boxes have survived so many years.
At first, Jonas bought these boxes from a thrift shop simply because he liked them for their beautiful pictures. After a while his collection was increasing and he started to think of ways to reuse them again.
